Redmi Turbo 5 India launch happened yesterday on 16th June 2026 and Smart Analytics Global Team was there on the floor to cover it. The device originally debuted in China on January 29, 2026, alongside the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. While we are yet to review the device but from our initial impressions, the Redmi Turbo 5 is a smartphone that is heavily focused on performance.

And when we talk about performance, it is not just about the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, which is obviously a capable chipset. The supporting components are equally impressive. The phone comes equipped with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, a memory standard typically reserved for flagship and ultra-flagship devices, offering both higher speeds and improved power efficiency. Storage is handled by UFS 4.1, ensuring top-tier read and write performance.
In short, there are virtually no compromises on the performance front in this segment.
Massive Battery with Fast Charging
The second major highlight of the device is its massive 7,540mAh battery paired with 100W HyperCharge support.
This is a significant battery capacity that caters to multiple user groups, from users looking for all-day endurance to gamers seeking uninterrupted gaming sessions, and even content creators or vloggers who spend extended periods away from a charger.

As for the display, Xiaomi has delivered an excellent package.
The phone sports a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 12-bit color depth, Dolby Vision support, and a TCL-sourced display panel.
A true 12-bit display remains a rarity even among flagship smartphones, making its inclusion in a mid-to-high-tier device particularly impressive. Combined with the high refresh rate and Dolby Vision support, the display should provide an excellent multimedia experience.

On the audio front, the device supports both Dolby Audio and Hi-Res Audio certification for wired as well as wireless playback.

The concept is somewhat similar to the Glyph Interface seen on Nothing smartphones. Beyond adding visual appeal, the system serves a functional purpose by reacting dynamically to notifications, calls, music playback, and gaming scenarios across eight customizable colors.

The Redmi Turbo 5 resembles the POCO X8 Pro to a large extent.
The major differences revolve around the battery and memory configuration. Redmi Turbo 5 offers a battery that is 1,040mAh larger than the POCO X8 Pro and also upgrades to LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, compared with the standard LPDDR5X memory found on the POCO device.
From a channel perspective, Redmi Turbo 5 is being positioned as an Amazon-exclusive smartphone, while the POCO X8 Pro was more Flipkart-focused. This strategy allows Xiaomi India to benefit from both major e-commerce platforms through different brands and product portfolios.
The device will also be available through Mi Stores and Xiaomi’s own online channels. The relatively online-focused approach should help Xiaomi maintain aggressive pricing compared to competitors that rely heavily on both online and offline distribution.
Interestingly, this strategy echoes Xiaomi’s earlier years in India. Seven to eight years ago, when Xiaomi dominated the Indian smartphone market, the company was heavily dependent on online channels to maintain its value-for-money proposition. It appears Xiaomi is now attempting to replicate parts of that strategy while maintaining a balanced offline presence through other products. Market Outlook
Redmi Turbo 5 appears to be one of the key products in Xiaomi India’s portfolio and has the potential to drive significant volumes.
Having said that, we still believe Xiaomi as a brand could witness a double-digit decline for the full year. This is not necessarily linked to the company’s execution but rather to broader macroeconomic challenges, including the global economic slowdown and ongoing memory price hikes impacting the smartphone industry.
The aggressiveness Xiaomi India marketing team is bringing on to the table is leading to better communication and in the long run right now might result in a brighter future for Xiaomi India.
