Key Takeaways

  • WHOOP led the global non-display band market in Q2 2026 with 54% market share, followed by Amazfit at 21%, Polar at 14%, and Google Fitbit at 9%.
  • Global non-display band market to reach 6.0 million units in 2026, growing 109% YoY, and is forecasted to reach 8.8 million units in 2027, at 48% YoY growth.
  • New entrants such as Google Fitbit, Garmin, and Noise are expected to accelerate market growth, with launches such as Garmin Cirqa and Noise REP potentially making Q3 2026 an inflection point for the category.
  • Digital detox, longer battery life, and growing demand for screen-free health tracking are key factors driving consumer interest in non-display bands, alongside their appeal as companions to luxury analog watches and alternatives to basic smartwatches.
  • WHOOP follows a subscription-only model, while Fitbit Air offers both free and subscription tiers; Garmin, Polar, and Noise remain subscription-free. We believe the subscription model could become a pain point for WHOOP, potentially pushing it to consider a subscription-free option.

Commenting on the growth of non-display bands, Abhilash Kumar, Lead Research Advisor at Smart Analytics Global, said, “The non-display bands were initially an ultra premium product but now they are expanding to a wider audience. Consumers are increasingly looking for health and fitness tracking without adding another screen to their daily lives. These products also complement analog watches without much compromise on fashion and lifestyle. Also, longer battery life, digital detox, and the ability to track health metrics through a smartphone are further strengthening the value proposition of non-display bands. With new players such as Fitbit, Garmin, and Noise entering the market, we forecast the category to grow 109% YoY in 2026 and 48% YoY in 2027.”

Multiple Factors Driving Non-Display Band Growth

The growth of the non-display band market is being driven by multiple factors.

One, people are increasingly looking for non-screen alternatives to smartwatches so that they can carry their stylish analog watch. In the premium segment, consumers are upgrading to luxury analog watches, but at the same time, they want their health metrics covered. As a result, they are opting for smart rings and non-display bands as companion devices.

There is also a certain section of consumers who simply do not want a screen on their hands and are moving toward digital detox. This is also one of the factors driving consumers toward non-display bands and smart rings.

Apart from this, battery life continues to be higher on non-display bands compared to basic or true smartwatches. This is another factor driving consumers to opt for non-display bands. Consumers can view and track their health metrics on their smartphones without having to interact with a screen on their wrist.

WHOOP Continues to Lead the Market

Talking about the vendors, WHOOP has been leading the market. It led the chart in Q2 2026 as well and will continue to lead throughout the forecast window till 2027. Looking at the vendor outlook for 2026, WHOOP will continue to lead the market, followed by Amazfit. Fitbit will overtake Polar to become the third-largest vendor. Polar will be fourth, Noise will be fifth, and Garmin will be sixth. Together with the smaller Others category, these vendors will account for the total global non-display band market of approximately 6 million units in 2026.

WHOOP holds approximately 54 percent market share and grew 44 percent year on year during the quarter. WHOOP is still the prime choice for affluent consumers because of its premium positioning and first-mover advantage.

The growth is also driven by several sports athletes wearing WHOOP band during sporting events, which influences viewers of sports such as FIFA and Cricket.

Earlier, the market was pretty much dominated by WHOOP and Polar. However, we are now seeing more players entering the market. Google Fitbit has entered the segment with Fitbit Air, Garmin came up with Cirqa, and the Indian brand Noise has launched REP.

As more players enter the market, it will eventually lead to the overall growth of the non-display band segment.

Commenting on the changing competitive landscape, Kumar added, “WHOOP continues to enjoy a significant first-mover advantage and strong premium positioning. Its visibility among professional athletes also helps create awareness and aspiration among consumers watching major sporting events. However, the competitive landscape is changing rapidly, with Google Fitbit, Garmin, and Noise entering the segment. This expansion of the vendor landscape will be an important catalyst for the category.”

With multiple launches such as Noise REP and Garmin Cirqa happening in Q3 2026, Q3 2026 can be an inflection point for the non-display band market, and we might see strong growth during the quarter.

Among the non display band category, we are observing a business model divergence happening. Whoop at one hand is subscription only model, Google Fitbit Air on the other hand is has both free as well as subscription model. Others including Garmin, Polar and Noise are subscription free model. From an end consumer point of view subscription free model is more efficient than paying every year. We believe this can come out to be a pain point for Whoop which can make it rethink its strategy and come up with a subscription free model as well.

With established players expanding their portfolios and new brands entering the category, we believe the non-display band market is entering a new phase of growth. The combination of health tracking, longer battery life, screen-free experiences, and growing consumer interest in digital detox will continue to support the segment over the next few years.

Note: As per SAG definition, non-display band are the ones which does not have a display. These are mainly for fitness tracking and general usage. Examples include Whoop, Google Fitbit Air, etc.
